Gracie Haschak – All Eyes On Me (Music Video)

I know I am so excited to celebrate your
birthday with you today just show up and our day would be perfect all right bye
birthday boy bye birthday boy dad were you listening to my entire conversation what I’m just changing the battery Uuuugh Trying to act natural
But I got all eyes on me and I thought that you should know
you shouldn’t take it personally If I seem a little distracted
Just know I’m try-y-ing It’s kinda hard when all your moves are tracked And I got all eyes on me
(All eyes on me) Seeming like it’s a lose / lose
No matter what I do It’s not right, tryna play both sides
It’ll always end up in a lose…lose! Every move feels scripted
This ain’t what I envisioned It’s not right, tryna play both sides
Cause I always end up conflicted every time it never fails every time it
never fails Cause I’m trying to act natural but I got all eyes
on me and I thought that you should know you shouldn’t take it personally If I seem a little distracted
Just know I’m try-y-ing It’s kinda hard when all your moves are tracked
And I got all eyes on me
(All eyes on me) Ohhhh
All eyes on me Ohhhh
All eyes on me Ohhhh It’s kinda hard when all your moves are tracked
And I got all eyes on me
(All eyes on me) Don’t want this to feel one sided
It’s just hard to show that I care Cause I been feeling like, I’m walking a fine line
And I realize it ain’t fair Maybe it all will work out
And everything will calm down Cause I got all this pressure
Weighing on me
And I’m bound
I’m bound to just break down every time it never fails every time
it never fails cause I’m trying to act natural but I got all eyes
on me and I thought that you should know you shouldn’t take it personally If I seem a little distracted
Just know I’m try-y-ing It’s kinda hard when all your moves are tracked
And I got all eyes on me
(All eyes on me) Ohhhh
All eyes on me Ohhhh
All eyes on me Ohhhh It’s kinda hard when all your moves are tracked
And I got all eyes on me
All eyes on me Sometimes it’s a little too much
All your girl tryna do is break down the beat But they do too much, I don’t do too much
I just do it like, do it like 1-2-3 Sometimes it’s a little too much
All your girl tryna do is break down the beat But they do too much, I don’t do too much
I just do it, do it, do it like I got…
All eyes on me Ohhhh
All eyes on me Ohhhh
All eyes on me Ohhhh It’s kinda hard when all your moves are tracked
And I got all eyes on me
(All eyes on me) sometimes it’s a little too much all your
girl trying to do is break down the beat

Battles Backstage At The Pitchfork Music Festival

Battles Backstage At The Pitchfork Music Festival

anyway yeah here we are we're backstage at the pitchfork festival I'm Marty Leonard Sarah xrt along with david and john of the band you guys just got off stage awesome show it was nice thank you yeah so we should talk about about your album in that you were well in the process of writing the record when your singer sound a quit or went to go do different things that certainly changed which we were going to do on that album and you brought in in other singers how did how did you come to the idea to continue with other singers like you did too how did we arrive it at the idea is that the figures that we actually chose well I just to come with the idea of having different singers for those songs and i wish i wish i could say that there was this great elaborate plan from the get-go but we were really making up things on the fly and trying to figure reassess who we were going to be and figure out how we can keep moving on and because undoubtedly like we knew that we had to keep moving on it was just like how are we going to do that so bringing in singers was I think the most logical decision for us to make and then and easiest easiest ironically enough yeah yeah it was simple you guys aren't singers I didn't have the work ethic to go to singing classes I tried but I got the thumbs down it was kind of like um American Idol kind of thing you lost auditioned in front of Dave and Ian and they were sitting at a flatbed table sort of like this giant Cohen and I was on stage at a state we rented a place and I just didn't mmm make the cut well you must have been crushed we did have time for that which is strange we had time for that but uh well there was a time when when all this was going on at you sort of question whether the bank could continue did you or was that never an option not an option yeah failure is not an option no no way it was immediately just kind of like all right so that happened we got to figure this out yeah and it took us it took us a while it wasn't like we're geniuses and awesome just like okay later it was you know it's a learning process and we're still learning but it's but the worst thing about it was that we did the it there wasn't like enough time to for us to the three of us to go back to New York and go to a bar and sit down and have this like you know okay what do we do now like situation kind of thing it was it was literally like everything was I think totally on on impulse mm-hmm so in the impulse somewhat well when you brought these singers in though they brought in the lyrics to the songs is that how they worked yeah and you you ended up with some really interesting singers Gary Numan how did you get hooked up with with Gary Gary name is an interesting guy yeah and the song is called my machines and that's because those are his lyrics so just took them out of that I mean in kazoo is uh from blonde red is talking about for the song sweetie and shag kazoo is in blonde redhead and her lyrics are talking about um she has she's really into horses and she owns and who owns a horse in what upstate New York or something like that in the lyrics to the song of Sweeney and shag are about like the guys and the girls were starting to fall in love with each other at the horse stable the the statement they were like you know people like rose like I think I like rose you know that she's like rose the girl what do you do you know like really bizarre and I don't think she was really in it i'm really at the day I don't think she was like I gotta get this in a song I think she melodically was like working with us and we really would he when the song was done we were like what are you talking about she's like oh my horse stable these kids follow well things are where did this thing I was like super vague and then she left so we picked her up in Manhattan you know blonde redhead know her whatever picked her up in Manhattan drove her to Rhode Island to the studio she banged it out in like one night was amazing and then the next day she basically she took the bus home York and we were like oh and by the way look as she was leaving we're like kind of like so what are you talking about on this song like she's like oh well there are these two there's a boy a girl and they like each other and they're at my horse stable and they can't figure out love or something goodbye so I forgot to give the sign to you well you know she's playing in town monday night at millenium park at pritzker blonde red editor in town yeah yeah now you guys made an interesting choice of how to incorporate the singers into the live show by putting their faces up on those big screens and that works really well I saw the gary numan song when I was walking across the field checking you guys out and Wow Gary looks a little sinister in that yeah I love is cool yeah so how did you come up with the idea for that whose brainstorm with it for the heads of the videos to sing along with you guys uh we were trying to figure out like the best way to approach touring with vocals and there would be a vocalist to do it and really I think part of what we want to accomplish with vocals on her album was to have like some popular vocals and some more experimental locals and it's really difficult to try to figure out a person that could do all of that stuff yeah so I think it was really just kind of like working with within the process of like how how can we pull this off and like yeah technically we can sample these vocals like these studio quality vocals in them but we didn't want some disembodied boys coming in like out of nowhere in the audience be freaked out so it was really just about like taking the battle show to the to another level in like incorporating vocals and having a some video to sync with that that disembodied vocals so there you can visually attach yourself to this this thing and it's and it's all like you know you know it was important for us to have the screens on stage and everything to be integrated so that it's all part of like our live show and it's not like we're just like some shoegazer been you're watching a movie of this like singing above right it should be all part of like well yeah now he seemed like he was right there now for the song Atlas seemed like the vocals were different were those those are aren't the original vocals is that unlike a children's choir or something that's what it sounded like exactly exactly wow you had kids sing that seriously yeah Wow from where in London England yeah we we really wanted to do that pink floyd yeah another brick in the wall tells pretty cool no it was just kind of like you know I don't you know I don't think we were interested in using time these vocals and I think it was like it's time for like if we're a three-piece we need to represent ourselves as a three-piece and move on and it's important for us to kind of like if we're gonna play old songs that should be fresh and it should be like you know it should still be the same song that people would want to hear but it's important for us to kind of like reinterpret them so that it's more adaptable to what we're doing well you guys are so like amazing it's it's undeniable what you do and you know it's it's like there's so much going on and you hear something different in every song it's pretty cool you guys sorry you guys are your own thing for sure there isn't much else like battles and you're from Chicago is that true you're living in Chicago open boston after i graduated from school mm-hmm I moved to Chicago yeah yeah where are the hopes of making it is that your actual address that you invited everyone to our common part was that a Freudian Aldean in Chicago as well and he that was his old address he used to live there with the basis from okay go and then both of them can only moved out of the city around the same time but yeah I'm sure that that house might have some people really my jobs and I yeah well it's great well thank you so much for stopping by your set was it was amazing and hopefully bring going back to Chicago soon playing indoor sad or something you guys have plans for that yeah we're in October I believe we'll be back oh good what we'll look forward to that so yeah we're backstage at the pitchfork festival with battles here on 93 rt.com will be back later with more thanks for talking to
